  • Haworthia attenuata ‘Enon’ is a compact, clump-forming succulent with upright rosettes and distinctive white markings along its narrow green leaves. A variation of the widely grown Haworthia attenuata, this cultivar is named after the town of Enon in South Africa, where it was first observed growing in habitat. Like other Haworthia, it is native to the Eastern Cape Province, where it grows in rocky, shaded conditions and survives extended dry periods by storing water in its fleshy leaves.

The leaves grow in tight rosettes that usually reach 3 to 5 inches tall and wide, with raised, bumpy white tubercles along both sides of each leaf. These markings give the plant a striped, almost textured look, often compared to the patterns on a zebra. Over time, it produces offsets at the base, forming small clumps that can gradually fill out a shallow container. Though rare, mature plants may produce tall, slender flower spikes with tiny white blooms in late spring or summer, though flowering is not the main ornamental feature.

With its slow growth and compact form, Haworthia attenuata ‘Enon’ is ideal for small pots, dish gardens, or windowsill arrangements. It thrives in bright indirect light and tolerates dry indoor conditions well. The plant’s deep green color and white patterning create strong visual contrast, making it a subtle yet striking addition to minimalist or modern succulent collections.

  • Prefers bright indirect light or filtered sun. Can tolerate a few hours of morning sun but may scorch under harsh midday light.

Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly during winter when the plant enters a slower growth phase.

Adapts well to dry indoor environments. Good airflow is beneficial.

Grows best between 65–80°F. Should be protected from temperatures below 40°F.

Use a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix. Avoid compact or moisture-retentive soil.

Feed once a month during the growing season with a diluted, balanced fertilizer. No feeding needed in winter.

Non-toxic to pets and humans, but ingestion may cause allergic reaction, so keep it out of reach of kids and pets.
